"SpongeBob SquarePants". One of the most popular cartoon series that's name alone conjures feeling of joy in millions of kids. But their were many fan based conspiracies were came to existence about this show. Some of the fans assumed that it's a drama about nuclear annihilation and Drugs addiction. People makes many spooky theories on the characters as well.

1. The Nuclear Testing Theory.

• According to theory, the entire SpongeBob world is situated in Bikini Bottom, a fictional underseas community located underneath a real-life island called Bikini Atoll, back in 1946.
• The islands of Bikini Atoll was used by United States military as a Nuclear arms testing site. They tested about 23 nuclear weapon; a particular one called "Baker" that was detonated 27 metres underwater.
• The fascinating thing about theory is that, SpongeBob and the rest of the Bikini Bottom crew are all Nuclear humanoid sea mutants, that's why these creatures have human like emotions.
• The creepiest thing is that ,the theory might have a hint of truth, because the creator of the show was actually a former Marine Biologist. 

2. The Seven Deadly Sins Theory.

The actual theory was debunked by SpongeBob's voice actor, Tom Kenny infront of media but many fan based rumore spread that all the main characters represents the Seven Deadly Sins.

• SpongeBob: because of his overenthusiastic joy for everything, it's character reflects a sin of "Lust".
• Patrick: he is a lazy and an unemployed creature, that leaves under a rock and sleeps alot, which represents "Sloth" from his behaviour.
• Gary: a pet snail of SpongeBob, represents "Gluttony" as most of time he's either eating or asking to be fed, or trying to get cookie from Patrick's pocket.
• Sandy: the squirrel friend represents "Pride", as she is deeply proud of her home country, her athletic abilities and career as a scientist.
• Squidward: his tentacles shows "Wrath", as it being too needy he's always angry at SpongeBob for something. He hates everything of Bikini Bottom and always show rude behaviour.
• Mr.Krabs: he represents "Greed", as he is obsessed with collecting money just to save them and become rich.
• Plankton: "Envy" is suitable sin for him, as he is extremely jealous of Mr.Krabs success.

3. Characters reflects Consumption of Drugs.

 

This theory proposed that, some of the characters of this show represents the personalities of people which are addicted to Drugs.

• SpongeBob: he has wild imagination, similar to mindset of person addicted to meth. Usually happy but sometimes sad, he goes from immediate ups to down. 
• Patrick: reflects the personalty of person addicted to weed, as he eats and laughs at dumb things and remains relaxed always.
• Sandy: She is slightly alcoholic.
• Squidward: he reflects consumption of Heroin, as he is annoyed by everything and always yells at SpongeBob and Patrick.
• Mr.Krab: he is addicted to cocaine, because he is always obsessed with money.

4. Myth about Death of SpongeBob in Show.

• This theory spread rumours that SpongeBob's character becomes dumb and incapable as the show progress to fourth season.
• He is initially an intelligent character at starting series, but his personality changes as the show progresses. The theory suggests that the old SpongeBob died during 2004 film famous death scene.
• Since sponges can asexually reproduce babies, which are like clones. So it's very possible that SpongeBob was replaced by his baby, that brings the change in his personality and that's why he never seems to age.
• But this theory was later disproved by Stephen Hillenburg, who stated that fourth season presents prequel episodes to first three seasons.
